Tributes to Annie Kingdon who died after A39 crash

Annie had an "infectious smile" her family said in their tribute

The family of a teenager killed in a single-vehicle crash say she was their "shining star".

Annie Kingdon, from Porlock, Somerset, died when the car she was in crashed on the A39 near Minehead at about 19:00 GMT on 31 January.

Police said the 16-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene.

Her family said: "Words cannot measure the devastation that we feel at the passing of our beautiful daughter and sister."

They added: "She embodied the world of everyone she knew with her infectious smile and her confidence to embrace life without a filter."

Describing her as "kind, loving, loyal and caring", her family said Annie "was loved by anyone who knew her" and made their lives "so much brighter".

"We, her family want to express our thanks to so many people for the outpouring of love and support which is embracing and comforting us all during this terrible time," they added.

"Rest in peace our shining star, we will love and miss you forever."

The fatal crash happened at the junction of the A39 with Porlock Road

Avon and Somerset Police said three people, an 18-year-old man, a 19-year-old man and a 45-year-old man, were arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving in relation to the collision.

Both the 18 and 19-year-old were additionally arrested on suspicion of driving a vehicle whilst unfit through drugs.

The 19-year-old man has since been released without charge while the 18-year-old and 45-year-old have both been released under investigation.

The force is appealing for anyone with information or dashcam footage to get in touch.
