Around 50 people were at the party when Mr Roynon was stabbed

A teen who was fatally stabbed at a party was killed with a "survival knife," which may have been disposed of in a drain, a court has heard.

Mikey Roynon, 16, died at a house party in Bath on 10 June 2023.

In video testimony, a teenager at the party said: "I saw a boy putting a knife down a drain. I also saw him take his t-shirt off and put that down too."

Three 16-year-old boys, who cannot be identified for legal reasons, deny murdering Mr Roynon.

In his video, the boy said he fled the house in a group with one of the boys who had allegedly stabbed Mr Roynon.

"A guy at the party said 'It's kicking off, run,'" he said.

'Like shark teeth'

"I ran out the front door, turned around and was 90% sure I saw a boy putting a knife down the drain.

"It was quite a big knife, not one you'd eat your dinner with. It was like a survival knife.

"It was straight, and had ridging on it, like shark teeth.

"He put it in the drain and started stamping on it. I also saw him take his t-shirt off, and put it down the drain too."

When asked by police why he thought the boy did that, he replied: "If he stabbed him, then probably blood."

Afterwards, the group fled to a nearby field, before sitting in the front garden of a property.

"One of the group was on the phone to someone. They said 'we're chilling in this person's front garden right now, but what happened was a mad thing. Who knew [they] would do the mad thing,'" he said.

In his testimony, the boy referred to the alleged killer by an initial of the alphabet, which he said was a code name given to him by a friend.

"The reference was that he had done it. I was shocked. I didn't know someone had died, just that someone had got stabbed," he said.

'Quickly flipped'

The jury also heard video evidence from a girl who attended the party.

She said around 15 boys from Devizes, and another 20 from Bristol were there, adding that the boys from Bristol, who Mikey was with, were in a gang.

A dispute at the party began when one boy attempted to rob another.

"The party was fine, everyone was having a good time, and so quickly it flipped.

"One minute it was all good, the next minute Mikey was dead," she said.

"He was in the road and my friend was giving him CPR.

"I remember seeing a boy with a massive knife, thinner than a machete but not as long as a samurai sword. There was blood everywhere."

In the video, the girl said she "wasn't aware" of anyone else carrying a knife apart from the two she had mentioned.

Three 16-year-old boys deny Mr Roynon's murder at Bristol Crown Court. Two boys have pleaded guilty to possessing a bladed article, which the third denies. The trial continues.
