Parking will be reduced at a train station ahead of the Easter period for improvement works.

Access to the car park off Station Road in Castle Cary will be closed from 22 March until 8 April.

Some parking bays in the main car park will also be closed, ahead of rail improvement work on 31 March and 7 April.

The work will also affect train services between Westbury, Castle Cary and Taunton.

Trains between London Paddington and the south west will run via Swindon instead, but trains between Castle Cary and Weymouth will still run.

Replacement buses will operate between Westbury and Castle Cary, between Castle Cary and Taunton, and between Swindon and Pewsey.

No alternative parking

Jordan Welsby, GWR Station Manager for Westbury, Wiltshire and Dorset, said: "These works will allow our customers to access the entrance to the new car park from Station Road, plus complete any final snagging works needed at Castle Cary.

"We also need to provide rail replacement services as well as accommodation for train crew in the main station car park for Easter Sunday and the following Sunday.

"Together, this means that parking will be reduced at Castle Cary during this period and unfortunately there is no alternative parking nearby.

"We are really sorry for this temporary inconvenience, but the result will be improved car parking at the station, plus maintaining our train services for customers."
