Police have released CCTV footage of a man they want to speak to as they investigate the rape of a woman.

Avon and Somerset Police officers were called to Castle Park in Bristol, just before 03:00 GMT on 19 February.

The force said the victim, in her 50s, met a man in Old Market before walking towards the park where she was raped.

Officers believe the man in the footage, described as white and approximately 5ft 9ins tall, may have information about the incident.

He had light brown hair and was wearing light brown trousers and a blue, green and purple jacket.

Det Con Bethan Crowley said: "While these sorts of incidents are rare, we take them incredibly seriously and have been working tirelessly to identify the offender."

"I'd like to praise the bravery of the victim in coming forward to report this.

"The incident has left her shaken-up and we will continue to provide support and updates through specially-trained officers."

The force urged anyone who may know the man in the footage, or may have information which might help the investigation, to get in touch.

Anyone who has been a victim of rape or sexual assault, whether recent or non-recent, can also self refer themselves to The Bridge, external, a Sexual Assault Referral Centre.
