Construction of a new £3.46m facility for young people in South Yorkshire is to start soon.

The My Place project in Rotherham, funded by the government, is being led by the Chantry YMCA.

Built on the site of Eastwood car park, it will offer facilities including a graffiti art room, IT suite, cinema, performance hall and rooftop cafe.

An "alternative" curriculum will be offered to young people excluded from mainstream schools.

Connexions and Rotherham Children, Young People and Families Voluntary Sector Consortium will also provide support on a range of issues such as homelessness, sexual health and drug rehabilitation.
