Labour holds Doncaster, Rotherham and Barnsley councils

The Labour Party has held on to control of Doncaster Council, gaining seven seats to reach 43 out of a total of 63.

The Liberal Democrats lost one seat and independent candidates lost six.

Labour also retained a majority in Rotherham and Barnsley, gaining four and five seats respectively in those councils.

In Barnsley, independent candidates lost five seats but still have 14, while the Conservatives maintained their six council seats.

Conservatives won seven seats in Rotherham, losing two, and the British National Party maintained its one seat.

Labour has also taken control in Sheffield.
