Pete McKee holiday photograph exhibition in Sheffield

Sheffield artist Pete McKee has opened a photography exhibition displaying holiday snaps.

The Wish I Were Here display is a collection of photographs donated to the artist by members of the public.

Mr McKee invited people to share their favourite pictures from holidays in Britain, sharing the "good, bad, happy and sad memories".

The artist said the exhibition had uncovered a wealth of people sharing their family memories.

"There is nothing to hide in these photographs," said McKee.

"It's there to be seen by everybody, the frailties of the human being. We've got a fantastic photograph of a boy about to hit his mum over the head with a spade who is laughing at him after he wet his pants."

The Sheffield-born artist is well known for producing brightly-coloured bold paintings of northern images using emulsion paint.

Since launching his career as an artist, Mr McKee has received several commissions for his work from musician Noel Gallagher, Clarks shoes company and designer Paul Smith.

The exhibitions runs until 30 July at A Month of Sundays on Sharrow Vale Road in Sheffield.
