Michaela Hague's murder in 2001 has never been solved, despite a major investigation

Police have had an "overwhelming response" following an appeal into the murder of a Sheffield woman who was left for dead 10 years ago.

Michaela Hague, who is thought to have been working as a prostitute, was stabbed on waste ground in Spitalfields on 5 November 2001.

South Yorkshire Police re-appealed for information last week.

Dave Powell, from the force's incident team, said they had received a significant number of calls.

"Some of these [calls] have provided good lines of enquiry for the investigation team to follow up," he said.

"It's been an overwhelming response and we're grateful to anyone who has picked up the phone and contacted us."

Miss Hague, 25, was found semi-conscious by a friend shortly after 20:00 GMT in a secluded car park.

She had 19 stab wounds to her neck and back and died at the Northern General Hospital almost three hours later.
