HMP Lindholme: Two inmates held over prisoner murder
- Published
Two prisoners have been arrested on suspicion of murder after a 22-year-old inmate died at HMP Lindholme near Doncaster.
South Yorkshire Police said they were contacted by prison officials following the death on Saturday.
The force said the arrested men were aged 23 and 26.
The dead man's family have been informed and a post-mortem examination is due to take place later.
HMP Lindholme is classified as a Category C and D prison with a capacity of more than 1,100.
The former RAF base opened as a prison in 1985 and houses men over the age of 21, including inmates serving life and indeterminate sentences.
An inspection in the summer was highly critical of the jail's wing for low-risk prisoners, which has since been closed.
