Sheffield man in court on terror charges

A man arrested at Heathrow airport on 18 April has appeared in court charged with terrorism offences.
Khalil Maher, 21, of Wilfred Close, Sheffield, is accused of planning to join friends in Syria.
He is charged with preparing to commit acts of terrorism or to assist others in committing such acts.
Westminster Magistrates' Court heard he intended to plead not guilty. He was remanded in custody and is due to appear at the Old Bailey on 19 May.
