Police have until Tuesday evening to question the fifth man

More time has been granted to question a fifth man arrested in Sheffield over an alleged Christmas "terror plot".

Counter Terrorism Policing North East has been given until 18:00 GMT on Tuesday to hold the 21-year-old from Fir Vale.

A 36-year-old from Burngreave and a 41-year-old from Meersbrook arrested on 19 December have now been released without charge.

Two men appeared at Westminster Magistrates' Court on Friday.

Andy Sami Star, 31, who owns a chip shop in Chesterfield, and 22-year-old Farhad Salah from Sheffield, were remanded in custody.

A residential property and business in Firth Park have been searched since the 21-year-old's arrest.

Following the release of the 36-year-old, counter-terrorism police said they were "satisfied there are no grounds to charge him with any offences".
