A man who filmed himself sexually assaulting women while travelling on buses has been jailed for four years.

Alan Elsworth, 52, of Barnsley, exposed himself before committing the "horrific" sex attacks in South Yorkshire, police said.

He admitted 35 charges, including 14 counts of sexual assault and 16 of outraging public decency, at a previous Sheffield Crown Court hearing in May.

Detectives said he "showed absolutely no regard for his victims".

Elsworth, of Catherines Walk, was placed on the sex offenders' register indefinitely when he was sentenced on Friday.

He was also handed a sexual harm prevention order (SHPO) and restraining order, both lasting 10 years.

South Yorkshire Police said Elsworth had filmed himself assaulting his victims and following a search of his home address, officers seized devices on which they found extreme pornography and indecent images of children.

Det Con Michelle Jameson said: "Elsworth showed absolutely no regard for his victims.

"He exposed himself on public transport before committing horrific sexual offences against women who should have been able to ride a bus without being subjected to a sexual assault."

She said the women had shown "tremendous courage and bravery in coming forward to tell us about Elsworth's crimes".
