A man has been charged after cannabis worth more than half a million pounds was seized in a raid in Doncaster.

At least 550 cannabis plants were found at a property on Auckland Road on 3 October, South Yorkshire Police said.

Tuan Van Nguyen was later charged with production of a Class B controlled drug in connection with the find.

Mr Nguyen, 38, of no fixed address, appeared at Doncaster Magistrates' Court on 4 October and was remanded to appear at court again on 2 November.

The cannabis plants were found in several rooms at the property, with each one estimated to be worth £1,000, according to South Yorkshire Police.

Their total value was thought to be around £555,000, a force spokesperson said.

All the plants were later destroyed, they added.
