Barnsley: Woman, 85, dies after being hit by car in Wombwell

An 85-year-old woman has died after being hit by a car near Barnsley.
Emergency services were called to Wombwell Lane, Wombwell, at about 10:45 GMT on Saturday to reports of a collision involving a pedestrian and a grey Vauxhall Astra.
South Yorkshire Police said the woman was taken to hospital where she later died from her injuries.
The force confirmed the driver of the Vauxhall was assisting officers with enquiries.
Anyone with information about the collision, which happened near the junction with Ash Street, was asked to contact police.
