Sheffield business fined due to condition of staff toilet

A Sheffield business has been ordered to pay more than £10,000 after failing to provide "clean and suitable" toilet facilities.
Brightside Motors Ltd was prosecuted by the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) after ignoring several Improvement Notices between 2021 and 2023.
The firm was fined £8,000 and ordered to pay £3,292 in costs at Sheffield Magistrates' Court on 24 January.
The BBC has approached the company for comment.
Details of the prosecution were released by the HSE on Friday.
HSE inspector Kirstie Durrans said: "The provision of suitable, clean welfare facilities is a basic requirement that this company has failed to meet."
The business, which is based on Holywell Road in Grimesthorpe, was first issued with an Improvement Notice following an inspection in June 2021.
Inspectors found the toilet facilities "in a poor state" and without "suitable sanitary conveniences and adequate washing facilities".
"There was no supply of clean, hot and cold water, no soap nor any toilet paper," a HSE spokesperson added.
HSE inspectors re-visited the site in December 2021 and found the company had taken "no action" since its last visit.
Despite then issuing two Improvement Notices, legally requiring the company to take action, no improvements were made before the January 2023 deadline.
