South Yorkshire mayoral election 2024 candidates confirmed

The candidates in the running for the South Yorkshire mayoral elections have been confirmed.
Residents will take to the polls on 2 May to decide the next mayor to represent 1.4m people in Barnsley, Doncaster, Rotherham and Sheffield.
They will carry out the duties of the police and crime commissioner along with looking after transport, infrastructure and regeneration.
Labour's Oliver Coppard has held the role since May 2022.
The declared candidates are:
Mr Allen is currently a councillor representing Bessacarr ward, while Ms Kitching is a councillor in Barnsley's Penistone West.
Mr Johnson is currently leader of the party's group on Sheffield Council, where he represents City ward while Mr Bettney is a former soldier who now runs a number of businesses.
Mr Coppard will also stand for re-election
People will be able to vote at polling stations from 07:00 BST until 22:00 BST on 2 May.
Those who do not have photo ID need to apply for a Voter Authority Certificate by 17:00 BST on 24 April.
Votes will be counted in each local authority before being collated with an announcement expected at Sheffield Town Hall on the afternoon of Saturday 4 May.
The last day to register to vote for the elections is Tuesday 16 April.
