Sheffield former working men's club to become community centre

A former pub and working men's club in Sheffield is to be turned into a community centre and place of worship.
Plans have been approved to convert the vacant Victory Club, a once-popular working men's club in Darnall which shut in 2022.
Developer the Cube Foundation will run a number of activities from the site, including a youth club, after-school club and food banks.
The building will also be used by religious groups.
The Victory Club had been in business for more than a century before it was put up for sale as it struggled to survive due to running costs.
As well as being a traditional pub, the site has a large function room and was used to host special events such as weddings and birthday parties, the Local Democracy Reporting Service said.
A planning report said: "The Cube Foundation is already based within the local area, and the intention is to move the current operation to the Victory Club site.
"The intention of Cube Foundation has always been to integrate and support the local community."
The report said the developers were hoping larger premises would provide "an opportunity to better engage with the local community and allow it to host more community-based events and activities".
There was one objection to the plans submitted by the licensee of the Terminus Tavern - the neighbouring pub.
They raised issues including around parking and the safeguarding of children.
