Stafford Hospital's new unit plan

Plans have been submitted for a new unit to be built at Stafford Hospital.

The trust which runs the hospital has applied for permission to build a new area for the existing endoscopy unit.

The hospital said it would include separate waiting, treatment and recovery areas but did not know yet when work would start.

Manjit Obhrai, deputy chief executive, said plans were at an early stage and it was in no position to say what the cost of the new unit would be.
