Plans to cancel a number of bus services in Stoke-on-Trent are being looked at again by the council, the authority said.
Campaigners attended a meeting of the council on Thursday to protest over plans to cut subsidies to 44 routes.
Senior officers would be in talks next week with bus operators, the council said.
More than 400 people have signed a petition to try to save the number 96 service from Tunstall to Brindley Ford.
