The main contractor to complete the next phase of a new bus station in Stoke-on-Trent has been named.

Vinci, which has won the tender subject to a 10-day call-in period, is due to move in to build the facility after groundworks are finished.

Work on the station in John Street, which will have 22 new bus bays, was progressing on time for the opening in autumn 2012, the council said.

The scheme forms part of the £350m City Sentral shopping centre initiative.
