A 13-year-old girl was killed when she was struck by a lorry in Birmingham.
Emergency services were called to Kings Heath High Street, at the junction with Poplar Road, just after 17:00 GMT on Monday.
Fire crews freed the girl from under the lorry, but she was pronounced dead at the scene.
The surrounding area has been closed off and local diversions are in place. West Midlands Police are appealing for witnesses.
A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said: "Ambulance staff worked with firefighters to treat the girl, who is believed to be in her early teens, whilst she was freed from under the vehicle.
"Sadly, despite all of the efforts it was not possible to save her and she was confirmed dead at the scene.
"The lorry driver, a man, was badly shaken by the incident. After being assessed at the scene, he did not need to go to hospital."
