Weston village hall could house temporary post office

A village hall in Staffordshire could become a temporary post office, 18 months after services were suspended.

It follows a campaign by the residents of Weston and Stafford councillors, who have been fighting post office closures in the rest of the borough.

Post Office Ltd has now agreed to a temporary solution in the village hall, which will open for business on Tuesdays and Thursdays afternoons.

Campaigner Bill Perrett said it would offer the full range of services.

A consultation period about the temporary arrangement will run until 21 December, and services in the village hall are expected start in January.

"It's not ideal... what we really want is a full-time facility in a retail premises," said Mr Perrett, chair of Community Shop Group.

"But it's certainly better than nothing, and particularly beneficial for those people who haven't got their own transport."
