Pair jailed over Hanley Beaverbrooks jewellers raid

A man and woman have been jailed for their roles in a £500,000 raid on a Staffordshire jewellers.

Watches and jewellery were stolen from Beaverbrooks in the Potteries Centre, Hanley, on the morning of 17 November.

John Haining, 25, of Eastern-by-Pass, Manchester, admitted robbery, criminal damage and affray and was jailed for 12 years at Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court.

Natasha Boomer, 27, of New Street, Lees, Oldham, admitted receiving stolen goods and was jailed for two years.

Det Ch Insp Ricky Fields, of Staffordshire Police, said: "The employees at the jewellers were extremely shaken up by the robbery and, although they received no physical injuries, the experience was extremely distressing for them.

"Even though Haining and Boomer have been convicted, work continues to bring the others involved in this incident to justice.

"Some of the stolen items have already been recovered but we are keen to recover those still outstanding."
