Robbie Williams street signs unveiled in Stoke-on-Trent

Signs for streets named in honour of Robbie Williams have been unveiled in his hometown of Stoke-on-Trent.

Roads in a new housing estate in the Middleport area are called Angels Way, Candy Lane and Supreme Street.

Although he did not attend the ceremony, the singer, who rose to fame with boy band Take That, said it was "a real honour" and "a wonderful legacy".

Ruth Rosenau from the city council said the move was "a fitting tribute to [Williams'] outstanding success".

Angels Way resident Kimberley Chesters, who went to the same primary school as Williams - but not at the same time - said she was a fan of the singer, and because Angels was her favourite song, it was "a real buzz" to move on to the street.

The three "Robbie Williams" streets are part of a £14m housing development by social housing company Sanctuary Group, part-funded by the Homes and Communities Agency.
