The National Memorial Arboretum is hosting a day of activities to mark the 70th anniversary of VE Day.

The arboretum in Alrewas will hold a service of remembrance for those who served the war effort as it marks the end of World War Two in Europe.

There will also be a vintage-style street party and musical performances of 1940s classics.

Peter Orgill, head of operations at the site, said several thousand people were expected.

The Queen is attending a thanksgiving service at Westminster Abbey on the final day of the anniversary commemorations.

Later a military parade will be followed by a fly-past of WW2 aircraft.
