Murder probe after woman dies in Stoke-on-Trent fire

A murder investigation has been launched after a 40-year-old woman died in a house fire in Stoke-on-Trent.
Police said they were called at 15:10 GMT on Thursday by the ambulance service to reports of a blaze on Campbell Road.
The woman was confirmed dead at the scene and no-one else was present, the fire service stated.
Detectives said it was a complex investigation, adding that officers were supporting the woman's family.
Fire investigators were likely to spend several days examining the scene and anyone with information was asked to contact police, the Staffordshire force said.
Det Supt Nicki Addison explained: "This is a tragic case and we are working hard to understand more about what happened yesterday afternoon and who was responsible.
"We are keeping an open mind and would ask people not to speculate on the circumstances at this stage as it is distressing for family and friends, and could hinder our inquiries.
"This is a complex investigation and we continue to work closely with fire and rescue colleagues. I would encourage anyone who has any information, and not yet spoken to us, to do so as soon as they can."
Police thanked people living near the cordon at the scene for their patience, adding they understood their concern.
