M6 Toll price increase comes into force

Increases in the fees for using the M6 Toll have come into force.
The cost of using the 27-mile route through Staffordshire has gone up by 30p for cars and 40p for vans.
The price for those leaving the motorway at junctions T4 for Lichfield and Tamworth, T5 for Shenstone or T6 in Burntwood will remain unchanged.
The operator said it was planning to put a number of improvements for the route in place.
A £20m improvement programme includes introducing an automatic number plate recognition technology along with a new payment system to allow drivers to pay by smart device.
The mainline price for cars, external which pass through toll plazas on the main carriageway has increased from £8.60 to £8.90, with the cost for vans increasing from £14.90 to £15.30.
