Nutcracker statues have been hidden around a town centre to help encourage families to visit this Christmas.

The free trail was part of efforts to make Tamworth feel more festive this year, the borough council said.

Additional lighting has been installed in the town, and Christmas trees back on display above shop fronts.

There will also be a temporary ice rink and a Santa's grotto in the run-up to Christmas, it added.

The 10 large nutcracker characters would be on display until 31 December, and families who found them all could enter a prize draw, the authority said.

Parking charges for Tamworth Borough Council car parks would also be dropped on 2 and 23 December.
