A county town is set to host its first Pride festival this summer.

Stafford Pride organisers said the celebratory event would encompass the LGBTQ+ community across Staffordshire and beyond.

The festival will be held on Saturday 10 August with plans for a parade and "amazing acts" on the main stage, said organisers.

Their aim was to fill the streets of Stafford with "love, pride, and solidarity".

Jack Taylor, chairman of the event said they wanted to bring people together.

"Not just as Pride and as LGBT people but the whole of Stafford," he said.

"We need to shout about what we do, because we are an amazing town, we have some fantastic venues in town and a lot of it is under-utilised."

The event in Victoria Park would be a celebration with people standing together in unity, he added.

Previous Pride events in Staffordshire have drawn large crowds, with thousands of people attending Stoke-on-Trent Pride in 2023.
