Roadworks will begin at the Heron Cross junction in Stoke-on-Trent from Tuesday, the city council said

Overnight roadworks are due to start in Stoke-on-Trent for repairs around a junction.

They will begin at Heron Cross, Fenton, from Tuesday and continue day and night until the road can be reopened, Stoke-on-Trent City Council said.

Only access to houses will be allowed and residents are urged to use alternative bus stops during the works.

Councillor Amjid Wazir warned residents they might have to allow extra time for journeys.

"We know a full junction closure is not ideal for residents or road users but we need to ensure the safety of everyone involved," he added.

The council said the works would affect Blurton Road, Grove Road, Duke Street, and Heron Street.

Signs would be put in place before works started and drivers were encouraged to find alternative routes around the area, the authority added.
