A contemporary art exhibition, curated by a group of school students, is set to open in a museum's new art gallery in Staffordshire.

"Through the Frame" includes work by Damien Hirst, Tracey Emin and David Hockney.

It is set to open to the public on 10 February at The Brampton Museum, Newcastle-under-Lyme.

The exhibition was the culmination of six months of planning by 14 students from Madeley School.

The exhibition contains work by artists such as Damien Hirst and Tracey Emin.

Other artists to be shown include David Shrigley, Jeff Koons and Harland Miller, said organisers.

The pieces of art will be displayed with their packaging and the boxes they come in.

"The experience of seeing the boxes before the art built the anticipation for the group, making them even more excited to see the artworks when they were opened," explained Dr Jack Roberts.

The art dealer and former pupil at the school helped organise the project.

"The excitement that the pupils felt when they saw each artwork has guided their selection," he said.
