NHS Suffolk's £4m on wasted medication

NHS Suffolk has revealed wasted medication costs it £4m a year.

In a bid to reduce the cost the health service has urged people only to order medicines on repeat prescription if they have run out.

A senior NHS Suffolk pharmacist said a large number of medications have to be returned and destroyed.

"We know patients stockpile medicines so it's important they go through their cupboards and check whether they really need to re-order," he said.
