Warning over fake BBC school closure website in Suffolk
- Published
A fake BBC website has been set up falsely claiming schools in Suffolk are closed.
Snow showers have fallen across the county causing 25 schools to shut, mainly around the Ipswich area, with others closing early.
The fake website claims to be from BBC Suffolk and lists as closed some schools which are still open.
Suffolk County Council has urged parents and pupils to check either their website or the genuine BBC page, external.
Flurries of snow are predicted throughout the day with a maximum temperature of 1C (34F) and freezing fog overnight.
The county had not experienced the severe weather seen elsewhere in the UK on Tuesday or Wednesday and no schools had been closed.
Police have urged drivers to take extra care on icy roads.
