NHS Suffolk forms enterprise for joint-pain sufferers

Sufferers of muscular and joint pain look set to benefit from a new social enterprise formed by NHS Suffolk staff.

Allied Health Professionals Suffolk CIC (AHP Suffolk) will operate as an independent body, from 1 July.

It will provide musculoskeletal physiotherapy services (MSK) and back and neck care for pain sufferers in the county.

"We are all very excited at the challenge we have taken on," said Jo Douglas from AHP Suffolk.

"We look forward to delivering the very best quality therapeutic services."

The MSK physiotherapy service covers the diagnosis and treatment of damaged muscles, bones, joints, nerves, tendons and ligaments.

The enterprise company will also create a specialist spinal service.

Staff from NHS Suffolk will transfer their employment to AHP Suffolk under the organisation's three year contract.

The social enterprise will reinvest its profits back into staff development and training, said AHP Suffolk.
