Woman arrested after man found dead at Haverhill house

A woman has been arrested on suspicion of murder after police forced their way into a house in Suffolk and found the body of a man in his 70s.

A member of the public reported concern for a resident in Castle Lane, Haverhill, shortly after 22:00 GMT on Friday.

Officers found the body and the woman, believed to be in her 40s and from the Haverhill area, with a head injury.

She is receiving treatment in hospital and was arrested on Saturday afternoon.

She will be moved to a Police Investigation Centre once discharged from hospital, police said.

A cordon remains at the house while officers conduct further inquiries and scenes of crime officers attend.

Formal identification of the man has not taken place and a post-mortem examination is due to be held to ascertain the cause of death.

Suffolk Police appealed for anyone with information to contact them.
