Police probe boarding school abuse claims
- Published
Police are investigating allegations of sexual and physical abuse at a former Suffolk boarding school after being contacted by nearly 50 ex-pupils.
The accusations surround Oakwood School, in Stowmarket, which closed in 2000.
A Suffolk police spokesman said officers were investigating complaints from 46 people.
Some of the allegations date back to the 1970s, the spokesman said.
Education authority Suffolk County Council said it was "collaborating fully" with the police inquiry.
The state-run boarding school was attended by boys aged between seven and 16.
