Woman jailed for patient escape from Suffolk hospital

A woman who helped a secure unit patient abscond from a hospital in Suffolk has been jailed for 18 months.

Rebecca Martin, 22, helped Luke Sparks, 21, escape from St John's House in Palgrave, near Diss, on 2 October last year.

Martin of Greys Manor, Banham, near Diss, was sentenced at Ipswich Crown Court on Friday, after admitting the offence.

Sparks of Weston-super-Mare, was jailed for 30 months for his escape.

Another prisoner, Jason Williams, 21, who also admitted escape, was given a nine-month prison sentence, suspended for two years.

A third prisoner, Ross Beeby, 23, of no fixed address, also pleaded guilty to escaping from custody.

His sentencing was adjourned for reports to be prepared.
