Work to begin on £21.5m Ipswich travel scheme

Work on a key part of a £21.5m transport scheme in Ipswich will begin on 24 September.
The roundabout on Civic Drive and Princes Street will be replaced by crossroads as part of Suffolk County Council's Travel Ipswich scheme.
The Cattle Market and Tower Ramparts bus stations will be refurbished and improvements made to cycling routes.
Work on Civic Drive is expected to be finished by May, with the rest of the scheme completed by July 2014.
Changes are already underway on Handford Road, Portman Road, Eagle Street and Tacket Street.
The Department of Transport has given £18m to the project, the council is spending £2.5m and a further £1m has been generated from other sources, including Ipswich Borough Council.
The scheme, which was previously called Ipswich - Transport Fit for the 21st Century, will also include a new computer system to control traffic lights, priority at junctions for buses and new signs.
