A new nine screen cinema is to be built in an Ipswich shopping centre.
The Vue cinema will be built in the Buttermarket, in vacant units formerly occupied by TJ Hughes and part of one currently used by TK Maxx.
Ipswich Borough Council's planning committee approved the development, which will also include six new restaurants on the first floor.
Work is expected to begin by the end of year and the cinema could be open by next autumn, the council said.
There are currently two other cinemas in Ipswich - Cineworld on Cardinal Park and the Ipswich Film Theatre on King Street.
The purpose built former Odeon building in the town centre remains empty following its closure in 2005.
