Plans for an £8m renovation of a derelict boatyard in Woodbridge, Suffolk, are to go on public display.

Developer FW Properties hopes to develop Whisstocks, which closed 17 years ago, and Nunn's Mill into a mixed use site with restaurants and a museum.

Two buildings would be reserved for community schemes, including the build of a full size replica of the Anglo Saxon burial ship found at Sutton Hoo.

The plans will be on show at The Crown, Thoroughfare, on 24 and 25 January.

Julian Wells, a director at FW Properties, said: "We want to bring vitality and for it to be a new part of the town centre.

"It would be a working area with things happening around it but also a place to relax and enjoy."

Mr Wells said talks were taking place with Investec Bank regarding the funding of the project.

FW Properties hopes to submit a planning application in March.

Work could begin by the end of the year and completed by spring 2015.
