Tom Cruise performs secret Mission: Impossible stunt at RAF Wittering

Film star Tom Cruise spent a week secretly filming an airborne stunt for his new action movie.

Scenes for Mission: Impossible 5 - Rogue Nation were shot at RAF Wittering in Cambridgeshire.

Cruise carried out the stunt himself and it involved running across an aircraft wing on the runway and hanging on to the outside of the fuselage when it took off.

"I couldn't sleep the night before," he said.

"Physically it was very gruelling - it surprised me how challenging it was."
