A man arrested at a Pontins holiday park has died in hospital.

Paul Gladwell, 38, of Colchester was first detained by staff at the holiday site in Pakefield, Suffolk, late on Tuesday.

He was then arrested on suspicion of assault by Suffolk Police.

The Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC) is investigating the case after it was referred to them by the force.

IPCC Commissioner Cindy Butts said: "Our investigators will be conducting a thorough enquiry into all the circumstances surrounding his interaction with the police."

Anyone who witnessed the incident is asked to contact the IPCC.
