A teenage boy killed another youngster in a "frenzied" attack because he thought the victim was preventing him reuniting with his ex-girlfriend, a court heard.
Harley Barfield,16, was stabbed in the heart in a car park in Haverhill, Suffolk, on 9 January and died two days later in hospital in Cambridge.
He had stab wounds to his chest and cuts to his neck, head and hands.
A 16-year-old boy, who cannot be named because of his age, has denied murder.
Prosecutor Riel Karmy-Jones KC told a jury at Ipswich Crown Court the defendant's "jealousy and obsessiveness" came to a head when he armed himself with a knife and went to find Mr Barfield.
He "slashed and stabbed Harley" before he threw the weapon and fled the scene, Mr Karmy-Jones said.
Prior to the attack he became growingly obsessed with his former partner and bombarded her with texts and video messages, the court heard.
Witnesses will describe the victim's "scared expression", how the defendant chased him while holding a knife as the victim screamed at him to stop, Mr Karmy-Jones added.
The jury heard after Mr Barfield fell to the ground other children present tried to stem the flow of blood before a mother of another child began CPR.
The trial continues.
