Ipswich: Ex-Scout leader Ian Butcher admits sex offences

Ian Butcher pleaded guilty at Ipswich Magistrates' Court

A former Scout leader has admitted voyeurism and making indecent images of children.

Ian Butcher, of Ipswich, was charged with four offences in connection with the illegal filming or photographing of children and adults.

The 55-year-old appeared before magistrates in Ipswich on Friday.

The offences related to eight victims aged between 12 and 32 between November 2018 and June 2020.

Butcher, of Woodbridge Road East, admitted one count of taking an indecent photograph of a child, namely taking six videos; one count of making an indecent photograph of a child, namely possession of 16 indecent images; and two counts of voyeurism, relating to two adults.

These include instances of filming a child getting undressed in a changing room, the possession of indecent images of children, and of adults being filmed while showering.

He is due to be sentenced at Crown Court at a later date.
