Seashore Village toilets closed after 'mindless attack' in Felixstowe

Vandals tore soap dispensers and toilet roll holders from the walls

New public toilets have been closed after vandals "seriously damaged" the entire block.

East Suffolk Council opened the facilities, at Seashore Village in Felixstowe, just three weeks ago.

But after soap dispensers and toilet roll holders were pulled down from the walls, the local authority said repairs were needed.

The toilets are expected to remain closed for the rest of the week.

The Seashore Village is a new £1m development in the town, which features 27 traditional-style beach huts and a landscaped green space.

As part of wider regeneration of the area, a neighbouring activity park and remodelled car park with accessible spaces for wheelchair users, has been created.

In a post on X, formerly known as Twitter, the council said: "The baby changing units, toilet roll holders, soap dispensers and locks need to be repaired or replaced."

The local authority said it has reported the vandalism to the police and asked anyone with information about "this mindless attack" to call 101.
