A man has been arrested after a crash closed a major A-road and left one person seriously injured, police said.

The A14 was shut between junctions 50 and 51 near Needham Market in Suffolk after the collision, which happened at about 06:40 GMT.

Suffolk Police said the westbound carriageway had since reopened and a man detained on suspicion of drug driving would be interviewed.

It appealed for witnesses or anyone with dashcam footage to come forward.

The air ambulance was called to the scene and one man was taken to Addenbrooke's Hospital in Cambridge.
