A man has appeared in court charged with murdering his wife after the body of a woman was discovered at a house.

Taiwo Abodunde, 41, was pronounced dead at a house on Exning Road in Newmarket, Suffolk, on Tuesday.

Olubunmi Abodundee, 47, of Exning Road, appeared at Suffolk Magistrates' Court earlier.

A 38-year-old man arrested on suspicion or murder has been released and will face no further action, detectives said.

Mr Abodundee is due before Ipswich Crown Court for another preliminary hearing.

Suffolk Constabulary said it referred the incident to the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) following previous police contact at the address.

A police cordon would remain in place on Exning Road and there would be an increased police presence in the area, the force said.

A spokesperson for the IOPC said: "We can confirm we have received a referral from Suffolk Constabulary in relation to this incident and we are carrying out an assessment to determine what further action may be required from us."
