A section of a major road has been closed until further notice due to flooding.

Suffolk Highways said crews had installed an emergency road closure along the A12 at Yoxford, near to the A1120 junction.

Tankers attended the scene to try to clear the flood water, but were unable to remove it all.

In a post on X, external, Suffolk Highways said it had made the decision to keep the road shut.

"Our teams have been working hard to clear the surface water flooding.

"However, due to the sheer volume of water coming off the nearby fields, the decision has been made to keep the road closed for the safety of the public until further notice."
