Sutton Heath man pleads not guilty to murder and assault

A man has pleaded not guilty to the murder of another man at a former RAF housing estate in Suffolk.

The victim, 37-year-old Richard Hunt from Ipswich, died of stab wounds to the heart and lung in Ipswich Avenue, Sutton Heath on 8 October.

Jay Cotterill, 42, of Ipswich Avenue in Sutton Heath, was charged with murder - and assault causing actual bodily harm of a female victim.

Mr Cotterill entered a not guilty plea at Ipswich Crown Court on Monday.

A trial date of 13 May has been set, and is expected to last two weeks.

The Sutton Heath estate, on the former RAF Woodbridge airbase site, has a mix of civilian and military homes, as well as being the home to the Army's Rock Barracks.
