Man is stabbed in the leg in Newmarket house attack

Suffolk Police is appealing for witnesses who may have seen a group of men leaving a property on Nat Flatman Street in Newmarket

A man was stabbed in the leg and suffered a head injury in an attack at a property in the early hours.

Suffolk Police were called at 00:59 GMT to reports of an assault at a house in Nat Flatman Street, Newmarket.

The man, whose injuries were not thought to be life threatening, and an uninjured woman, were taken to hospital.

Officers are appealing for witnesses who may have seen a group of men leaving the property.

One of the men, who were heading towards All Saints Road, may also have been injured, police said.

A police cordon is in place at the scene while investigations continue.

Det Insp Stuart Dolan-Allen said: "We understand this incident will cause concern to residents.

"Additional reassurance patrols are being carried out in the surrounding area and members of the public are encouraged to approach uniformed officers and share any concerns they may have.

"We are treating this as an isolated incident and would ask anyone with any information, no matter how small you think it may be, to contact Suffolk police."
